Summary[]
Seven years before the wedding, Grandpa Frump dies.
Morticia Frump prepares for her wedding to Gomez Addams, the ceremony taking place in a forest with the Addams and Frump clans in attendance. However, the ceremony is disrupted by an angry mob of villagers that disapproves of their macabre nature. As the mob attacks with the priest that's related to them speeding up the event, Grandmama buys Uncle Fester time to get Gomez, Morticia, and Thing away from the attackers. Gomez and Morticia decide to move to New Jersey, a place where "no one would be caught dead in." There, Gomez, Morticia, and Thing find their "perfect" home in an abandoned haunted asylum on a hill, where they meet Lurch, an escaped mental patient, whom they immediately recruit as their butler. The asylum's spirit demands that Gomez and Morticia get out.
Thirteen years later, the Addams family has lived their lives in isolation from the outside world. Gomez prepares his son Pugsley for his upcoming Mazurka, a rite of passage every Addams family member takes, as Uncle Fester arrives. Morticia struggles to keep their daughter Wednesday from wanting to experience the world outside of the mansion after a balloon and confetti appear on their property. The Addams Family and their pet Kitty Kat, explore the area.
Elsewhere, reality TV host Margaux Needler, who is building a perfect planned community called "Assimilation", discovers the Addams family's household and becomes determined to rid the town of it when the family refuses to change. Wednesday meets Margaux's neglected daughter, Parker, and convinces Morticia to let her attend junior high school. Pugsley struggles with the complicated traditions and pressure of his Mazurka, even with the guidance of Gomez and Uncle Fester. Grandmama even shows up for the upcoming event.
At school, Wednesday defends Parker from a school bully named Bethany and befriends her. Later, the two discuss their frustrations and change their dressing habits. Morticia does a seance where she contacts Granny Frump and Grandpa Frump, who compare Wednesday distancing herself from Morticia with the time when Morticia ran away and joined the Girl Scouts, only to return when she discovered that campfires were for roasting marshmallows and not other Girl Scouts. Gomez and Fester continue training Pugsley for the Mazurka. When it comes to a change in their dressing habits, Parker becomes more Gothic and Wednesday dresses more colorfully, to the shock of their mothers. After an argument with Morticia, Wednesday decides to run away in secret and stay with Parker, which Pugsley inadvertently tells Morticia. Morticia is guilt-ridden as she watches Wednesday leave from the window in the children's room.
The next day, Cousin Itt arrives at the Addams Family house. Wednesday and Parker discover a secret room under Parker's house, revealing that Margaux has been planting hidden cameras in every house she designed in town. Margaux catches the two and locks them in the attic, but Wednesday breaks them out. Spreading rumors about the Addams family through social media, Margaux rallies an angry mob to attack the mansion just as the entire Addams clan, including Petunia, Uncle Onion, Dr. Flambe, and other unnamed relatives, arrives for Pugsley's Mazurka, where Great Auntie Sloom will judge the event.
During the Mazurka, Pugsley fails miserably in front of the whole family, but Gomez reassures him that he is an Addams nonetheless and also apologizes for letting Pugsley down, explaining that he was so focused on doing things traditionally that he forgot to let Pugsley be himself. The mob arrives and begins flinging boulders, severely damaging the house and trapping the family inside while sending the house's spirit flying into the swamp. With encouragement from his father to show them what he's good at, Pugsley uses his love of bombs and destruction to protect his family and manages to destroy the mob's catapult. With help from the sentient tree Ichabod, Wednesday and Parker join in and help the entire family and Wednesday's pet octopus Socrates out of the wreckage safely.
As Margaux tries to take control once more, her treachery is revealed to the people, with one of them saying that Margaux's spying on them with hidden cameras is over the line. Wednesday states that everyone is weird in their own unique way, and Morticia realizes she is right. When Margaux's agent Glenn forwards a message from the network stating that her show is cancelled for her crimes, thanks to Parker live-streaming her tirade with her phone, Uncle Fester comes up with a compromise. Realizing the error of their ways, the townspeople help rebuild the mansion.
The civilians and the Addams family live in peace where Thing is walking Kitty Kat. Margaux becomes partners with Fester in selling homes to the other Addams Family relatives; the unnamed priest modifies his house with an interior typhoon.
As the Mazurka resumes, Great Auntie Sloom declares that Pugsley has passed the trial. As everyone dances, the spirit re-enters the house, trying to get everyone to leave as the fog and clouds return, much to the delight of the Addams Family.
