- Ophelia - The name Ophelia is of Greek origin and means "help," "aid," or "benefit".
- Frump - An unattractive woman who wears dated, unfashionable clothes. Alternatively, from the Yiddish surname Frum, meaning ‘pious or observant’, or patronymic from a variation of the name Abraham, Afrom.

- Although all five of the original series episodes that feature Ophelia were remade for The New Addams Family, Ophelia only appears in two episodes (Morticia's Romance Part 1 and Part 2).
- In the remake of Ophelia Finds Romance, she is replaced by Cousin Melancholia.
- In the remake of Ophelia's Career, she is replaced by by Cousin Catastrophia.
- Her character does not appear at all in the episode that took inspiration from Ophelia Visits Morticia.
