In Chapter I: Wednesday's Child Is Full of Woe, Morticia gave Wednesday the necklace as a gift. Morticia states that it is made of obsidian, something that Aztec priests used to conjure visions. Morticia claimed it to be a symbol of her and Wednesday's connection.
In Chapter VI: Quid Pro Woe, Wednesday uses the necklace to attempt to contact Goody while performing her séance.
In Chapter VIII: A Murder of Woes, Goody uses the talisman to pass through Wednesday and heal her wound.
