The Principal's Office is the private study and official workplace for the principal of Nevermore Academy, where they also live during the school year. It appears in the Netflix TV series Wednesday.
History[]
Larissa Weems worked and lived in this office during her tenure as principal. After Wednesday Addams' application has been accepted by the school board, she receives Wednesday and her parents, Gomez and Morticia, in her office to take a look at the girl's school file and explain the school's system, including Wednesday's ordered therapy sessions with Dr. Valerie Kinbott. Larissa is later typing on her laptop at night and stops to enjoy and listen to Wednesday playing cello on her room's balcony.
After Rowan Laslow has been killed during Harvest Festival, Wednesday reports his murder to the authorities, but there is no corpse, and Rowan is nowhere to be found. Larissa brings Wednesday and Sheriff Donovan Galpin to her office to discuss the matter, objecting to Galpin's accusations about the school. Wednesday ends up asking to have a private talk with the sheriff, forcing Larissa to leave in order to prevent her student from being taken to the sheriff's office for a formal statement. In her apartment, she shapeshifts into Rowan and goes to see Deputy Ritchie Santiago to pretend Rowan is back. During the entire day, she watches Wednesday through binoculars to prevent interference and poses as Rowan again when he is taken by Marilyn Thornhill to Burlington Station after he is officially dismissed from the academy. It was actually part of a deal between Nevermore and Rowan's father: in order to prevent the school's or Rowan's reputation from being tarnished, his death would be covered completely.
After Outreach Day and Joseph Crackstone's statue being blown up, an enraged Larissa is seen arguing with Wednesday in the office on whether she is guilty or not. They end up discussing normie's persecution of outcasts and Joseph Crackstone's real nature, to which Larissa says that the world isn't always black and white and that there are good normies. She ends up dismissing the discussion and sends Wednesday to bed. Afterwards, she takes a glass of wine and takes a look at the 1991 yearbook. Out of spite, she tears Morticia's page, wrinkles it, and tosses it in the fireplace.
At the start of Parent's Weekend, Larissa meets with the three Addams in her office to discuss Wednesday's progress and proposes a joint therapy session with Dr. Kinbott, which ends up badly. Wednesday later barges into the office and reveals she knows that Larissa is a shapeshifter and how she covered Rowan's murder. Larissa defends herself and proceeds to explain the agreement she has with Mr. Laslow and how she did it to protect the school. Hearing screams, she goes to the office's balcony, followed by Wednesday, and they both watch a message burning on the academy's lawn: "FIRE WILL RAIN". Following Noble Walker's attempted assassination, Larissa scolds Wednesday for putting herself in danger. She therefore announces a full lockdown under the school and revokes Wednesday's off-campus privileges.
Larissa is later warned by Wednesday and Marilyn that someone broke into Wednesday's room and trashed it, stealing Nathaniel Faulkner's diary in the process. The principal betrays herself by saying that the diary should be safe in the Nightshades Library and that she knows that the monster is a hyde. She politely dismisses Marilyn and proceeds to reveal that Faulkner spent years studying hydes, wanting to determine if they were brainless killers or conscious of their actions. The two end up arguing again, with Wednesday questioning Larissa's decisions to protect the school no matter what.
Finally, the principal has no choice but to expel Wednesday after she was caught interrogating and nearly torturing Tyler Galpin. She announces this to Wednesday in the office, stating that she had enough chances and how she disappointed her.
Following Larissa's murder, the office is left empty in honor of her. According to official pictures from Netflix, Barry Dort, Larissa's successor, didn't change anything in the office.
Description[]
The principal's office is a very large, elegant, and highly decorated room. On the door to the office is a sign bearing the current principal's name. On each side of the door are a large bear on the right and a plant on the left. The principal has a wooden desk opposite to the entrance, on which are things such as paperwork, folders, a crow deploying his wings, another one under a bell of glass, a landline phone, a large lamp, and other things that belong to Larissa, such as her laptop (a MacBook from Apple). On the left end of the office (when you enter) is a huge fireplace representing a creature (likely a gorgon). Opposite the fireplace is some old and elegant wooden furniture, as well as the doors to the principal's apartments. Excluding the numerous lamps and the fireplace, two gold chandeliers illuminate the room. Behind the desk are large windows, framed by red curtains, at the top of which are Nevermore's symbol and its motto. The decoration is completed by vases, armchairs, mirrors, and a large old carpet.
