Eudora Addams[1], also known as Grandmama, is the mother of Gomez and Pancho Addams, and the wife of Father Addams.
She is portrayed by Blossom Rock and appears in seasons one and two of the 1964 ABC TV series The Addams Family. She is portrayed by Jane Rose in the 1977 TV special Halloween with the New Addams Family.
Biography[]
Background[]
Grandmama is partially French descent; her great-great grandmother Slice was the "Belle of the French Revolution", and sometimes she tells tales and stories to her grandchildren about this era (which resulted in Pugsley helping to decapitate Wednesday's doll). However, Grandmama was born in Spain, which she later refers to as "the old country". She lived in Spain at least until Gomez was six, when Gomez was promised in marriage to a family friend's daughter, although both Gomez and Grandmama had forgotten this by the 60's.
Little else is known of Grandmama's past save that she first voted in 1906. When Fester pointed out that there was no women's suffrage in 1906 (implying Grandmama lived in the U.S. at the time and she was at least 21 years old), she cryptically declared "That didn't stop me!". Grandpapa Addams said that she went to Law School.
Grandmama had lots of names and nicknames, such as Granny, Grandma Addams, Eudora Addams and aliases such as Madame Bovary, Madame de Pompadour and Madame X (which led her to the arrest of a fraud).

Weaknesses[]

Relationships[]
Uncle Fester[]
She is sometimes seen with Uncle Fester, playing darts or torturing each other.
Granny Frump[]
In the TV series, both Grandmama and Granny were old chums, having been schoolmates at Swamptown High. Granny was the more abrasive one, while Grandmama had a kinder personality. Despite their close relationship, it can be interpreted that if they were to be together for too long, it may cause them to bicker, as Morticia thought that it would be good to invite Granny over when Grandmama was vacationing at Devil's Island.
In the TV special, the two ladies worked in the kitchen for the Halloween party. Grandmama is the more abrasive one in this version, being displeased that Granny was in her kitchen brewing up a flying broom potion. It can be interpreted that since they both fulfill such similar roles in the family, they may be more inclined to bicker, even if they were friends.
Pancho Addams[]
In Halloween with the Addams Family, Grandmama is shown to be rather indifferent to Pancho and throws a glass of water on him when he becomes amorous over Morticia speaking French. This suggests that she's used to her son's ways and was tired of it.
Quotes[]
| "Uncle Fester: Oh, these conventions! There're so exciting! Grandmama: I remember the first time I voted, 1906. |
