Biography[]

Background[]

Gomez Addams attended Nevermore Academy as a spark. He met Morticia Frump, and they fell in love. Prior to this, Gomez had caught the interest of Morticia's roommate, Larissa Weems, but Gomez chose Morticia, and the rest was history. His roommate and best friend, Isaac Night, was a brilliant inventor who sought a cure for his sister Francoise's hyde affliction. Gomez agreed to be the energy source that powered his machine. However, Isaac lied and was willing to sacrifice his best friend to save Francoise. Morticia sabotaged the machine, causing an explosion that killed Isaac. The experience robbed Gomez of his outcast ability. They concealed Isaac's death and buried him in the same grave intended for Gomez. That night, a piece of Isaac survived the explosion without any recollection of his host: a severed right hand they called Thing.

Gomez had a rival for Morticia's affections named Garrett Gates. Everything culminated on the night of the Rave'N dance in 1990. Gates had broken into the school, his twisted love for Morticia having driven him insane. Garrett chased Gomez onto the roof of Nevermore, where a bitter fight ensued. Morticia accidentally stabbed Garrett when he lunged to attack Gomez, but Gomez took the weapon from her as well as the blame. Although he was cleared of murder charges, there were still several people who now saw him as an unconvicted murderer.

After leaving Nevermore Academy, Morticia and Gomez eventually settled down at The Addams Family Mansion, got married, and had a daughter, Wednesday, and a son, Pugsley. They kept Gomez's outcast ability a secret from everyone, allowing the family to believe he was an outcast with no power.

Season One[]

Gomez is seen sitting next to Morticia in the Addams family vehicle. He is singing along to a song. After singing, they begin to kiss each other. They stop when they notice Wednesday glaring at them. Gomez promises that Wednesday will love Nevermore, with Morticia agreeing with him. After Wednesday speaks of not wanting to follow in her mother's footsteps, he tells her that Nevermore is a magical place, as that is the place where he met Morticia.

At Nevermore, after Wednesday doubts the school's ability to keep her there for a long time, Gomez cuts in and says that Wednesday meant to say thank you for the opportunity.

When Wednesday is being introduced to her roommate, Gomez comments on Enid's side of the room being very vivid. When Enid expresses concern for Wednesday's paleness, he assures her that that is her normal look. As Wednesday leaves her dorm, she glares at both Gomez and Morticia, wiping the smiles off of their faces.

After Wednesday is done with her orientation, she meets the family outside wearing her new school uniform. After Morticia tells him and Pugsley to wait in the car, he taps his head to Wednesday's temple and walks away. After Morticia enters the car, she begins to cry, to which Gomez offers her a black handkerchief. He then flicks a switch, dropping Thing from the bottom of the car.

While at Weathervane, Donovan Galpin asks Wednesday if Gomez is her father. When she confirms that he is, he tells her that he should be in jail as he is a murderer. When Wednesday asked Larissa what Donovan meant, she pretended to not know.

On Sunday, her parents called her, with Gomez calling her his little black cloud.

Gomez picks Wednesday up at the sheriff station, telling Santiago that he is also Wednesday's lawyer. As Lurch drives them back to Nevermore, Wednesday tells Gomez about Galpin's request for help on a case. She instructs him to take mother home. Morticia is staying and that casket is closed. She tries to learn more about Aunt Ophelia, but Gomez firmly tells his poisonous viper that the story isn't his to tell.

Gomez makes up for forgetting Thing's birthday by gifting him a massage. He supports Morticia as she struggles with balancing her responsibilities and ongoing feud with Wednesday. He accepts Dort's offer to be a chaperone for the Nevermore camp outing, going with Morticia and Lurch. He hopes to spend quality time with Pugsley, but the boy dodges him at every attempt. Gomez heads to the showers for some alone time. He mistakes Slurp's hungry tongue for a flirtatious Morticia, realizing in horror that it's a zombie and not his wife. Pugsley saves Gomez's life with his powers by stunning Slurp. That night, Gomez and Morticia comfort Pugsley as Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital takes Slurp away.

Description[]

Gomez is of Castilian extraction and almost always dresses in a chalk-striped, dark-colored suit and tie, sports slicked-back hair, and sports a pencil-thin mustache.

Personality[]

Though he is the head of the household, he is extremely trusting and childish, with a short attention span and endless optimism. However, despite his naivety, Gomez is very capable of being stern and upfront about important topics, such as the murder of Garrett Gates or the accident with Isaac Night. He was also shown to be quick-thinking, as he used his lawyer career to help keep Wednesday out of trouble and to mitigate Santiago's questioning.

Powers / Abilities / Weaknesses[]

Powers[]

  • Electrokinesis (formerly): In his youth, Gomez had the ability to generate electricity and redirect it towards anything he wanted. However, he lost access to his powers after an experiment to remove Francoise's hyde gene.

Abilities[]

  • Combat: He is well-versed in all types of combat, or believes himself to be, at any rate, especially sword fighting.
  • Bilingualism: Gomez speaks English and Spanish fluently.
  • Adaptive Metabolism: Gomez, and the Addams overall, seem to have developed an adaptive metabolism, which allows them to withstand virtually any toxin or pathogen. He is seen feeding on rats and other unsanitary meals, with apparently no ill effects.[2] Other outcasts, like werewolves or sirens, have found their meals disgusting and repulsive, implying outcasts in general eat the same food as normies and do not share the same immunity to detrimental factors.

Weaknesses[]

  • Power Drainage: Gomez permanently lost his electrokinesis power due to Isaac's experiment.[3]

Relationships[]

Morticia[]

Morticia and Gomez met in Nevermore Academy as teenagers. Their infatuation with one another led to obsession, and they were passionately in love. They didn't spend a night apart from the moment they dated. Their love brought Morticia into the Addams family, and they had two children Pugsley and Wednesday.
