- This type of outcast could possibly be related to the Noppera-bō, faceless ghost in English, which is a Japanese yōkai that looks like a human but has no face. They often work to scare humans and revel in the terror that their faceless form provides. The Noppera-bō are also sometimes confused with other creatures, since they transform themselves into noppera-bō in order to frighten humans.
